Assigned to create a modern identity for a historical figure, I chose Arthur Machen (1863-1947), an influential but underappreciated author, historian, horrorist and mystic from Wales who served as an inspiration for H.P. Lovecraft. Like many popular authors today, Machen would of course have a website with a blog, and accounts on Facebook and Twitter. As he was also an actor and lecturer, I thought it only natural that he would host a travelogue for the BBC as well, so I designed packaging for the miniseries on DVD.
The website pages and Twitter feed are mockups created in Photoshop, while the Facebook page actually exists at www.facebook.com/ArthurMachen21stCentury.
The blog post is a transcription of an address Machen made on BBC Radio, released as part of this CD set.
